Monzo statement to Excel
Monzo statements are short and simple — four columns, no wrapped rows — which makes them the easiest of the UK banks to convert. The CSV export from the app is even quicker if you have it.
Column layout
The PDF statement prints a plain four-column table with dates as DD/MM/YYYY.
| Account type | Date column | Description column | Amount column | Balance column |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monzo PDF statement | Date | Description | Amount | Balance |
Notes and reference text
Monzo puts your payment reference in the description alongside the merchant name. That text is preserved rather than trimmed, because for a Monzo-to-Monzo transfer the reference is often the only thing that tells you what the payment was for.
CSV versus PDF
The app's CSV export already has one row per transaction, so conversion is mostly validation — the columns are checked, the amount sign convention is fixed, and the result is written out as a clean sheet. That path takes a couple of seconds.
Questions
Does it read Monzo pot transfers?
Yes, they appear as transactions moving money between your main balance and a pot. Both legs are included if both are printed.
Can I convert a joint account statement?
Yes. Joint statements use the same layout, and the account holder name in the header is ignored.
Why is my balance column empty?
Monzo PDFs print a running balance, so it should be filled. If it is blank, the statement page may be a summary rather than a transaction listing — check that the file is the full statement.
